FESP Green Careers - Climate Change Project Get Involved

By 2040, the renewable energy and net-zero sectors aim to create 20,000 new jobs. This means a whole new wave of opportunities and careers in renewable energy and net-zero sectors for young people across the country.

We know that young people have a greater interest than ever before in protecting our world but do they know how they can have a career actively doing so in Cumbria?

This project will introduce students to employers in our area working on the climate change agenda. Through our project, students will be partnered with a business to design a legacy piece to share their learning about the county’s aspiration to achieve a low/net zero carbon economy by 2050. Each group of students will select, with their business partners, the issue they will focus on.  Increasing awareness of key issues and designing a legacy piece to benefit the community will be the focus of their project brief.

Our project scoping event took place today (7th March) at Furness College in Barrow-in-Furness.  We were joined by our media partners Horizon Studios.  It was wonderful to see such fantastic input from supporting businesses Oxley Developments and Orsted and participating schools:

  • Barrow Island Community Primary School
  • Newbarns Primary & Nursery School
  • Cambridge Primary School
  • St Paul’s C of E Junior School
  • Ormsgill Nursery & Primary School

Thanks everyone for a brilliant and productive afternoon.  We can’t wait for the project to start!
